If I had to identify some of the guilty indulgences in my life – I would have to say that fancy coffee would be one of them. LattĂ©s, espressos, mochas, frappes, cappuccinos, you name it! I love it all! So given that Saint Patty’s Day is just around the corner, I thought that I would shift seasons with my fancy coffee. To get in the spirit of Saint Patrick’s day I made my own homemade Irish cream coffee creamer.

Homemade Irish Cream

When it comes to my coffee like I said I like my fancy coffee and basic black coffee – that’s it! Now don’t get me wrong I LOVE the taste of coffee creamers. You know the ones, the ones with crazy yummy flavours (like Irish cream). But ever since I discovered that most flavoured coffee creamers are close cousins to plastic I’ve decided to give them up. So I was beyond excited when I figured out that I could make my own homemade Irish cream coffee creamer.

It’s So Easy To Make – My Husband Could Do It!

Homemade Irish Cream is so simple to make. And seeing that it’s really easy to make myself, I’m now able to enjoy flavoured coffee creamer in the mornings again. And this creamer I know is not made up of all sorts of weird ingredients. When it came to the recipe for homemade Irish cream, I was actually surprised at what went in it. Cream, chocolate syrup, almond and vanilla extract. Almost all the ingredients I had on hand – except for the chocolate syrup. Which I found out is really easy to make too (see the recipe for homemade chocolate syrup here)!

If you like the flavours of chocolate, vanilla, and almond you’ll love the taste of this homemade Irish cream. Use it to flavour your coffee or for a nice change add 2-3tbsps to steamed milk before bed.

Thanks, Alexandra. Even though I do like my alcoholic creamers, I like the option of parenting in the AM alcohol-free! lol

Hi Mayke, I would love to live in Ireland! I’m not sure if this compares to a “true” Irish coffee (plus it’s alcohol-free) but It sure does the trick for me!

Mama, because this has almond extract in it, I wonder how it would taste if you substituted the cream for almond milk?

I love baileys, but I am tee-total, I really miss it, so cannot wait to try this in a hot chocolate. I’m assuming it wouldn’t work drinking it “neat”?

Hi Sassy, I’m not sure what drinking it “neat” means – But I’m sure it’s great in hot chocolate!
